Love & Co
Helvécio Ratton
Comedy / 100min / 1998
Synopsis
Realistic comedy - loosely adapted from the novel "Alves & Cia" by Eça de Queiroz - tells the hardships of Alves, a rich merchant from São João del Rey, Brazil, during the late years of the XIX century. One day, Alves finds his beloved wife Ludovina in the arms of Machado, his partner in the thriving firm "Alves & Machado", causing him to become sad and revolted. Alves kicks Lulu out of his house and challenges Machado for a duel. Instead of becoming a tragedy, the story turns into a fine comedy, where business relationships mix themselves with love relationships.
